Dear visitors and friends,

Our site is back to life after a while. There are a few changes, however. Firstly, there is no longer a Calendar section with postings about conferences outside Russia. We found it extremely hard to cope with the amount of information on our own. So, for conference calls abroad go to Linguist List.

Secondly, the Dissertation Council here in Samara has changed its number and scope. It now awards not only Candidate of Science but also Doctor of Science degrees in Philology. Possible amends to the information posted here are coming soon.

Thirdly, our e-journal is going to be published as usual.

Lastly, Forum is hacked, as it was nothing but a spammers' house.

Samara AltLinguo is home to diverse views on Linguistics and English Language studies. We welcome your ideas, views, articles, support and happy to give you a chance to publish your opinion here on the web. We would like this to be a place where different views can peacefully live and where sane scientific discussion can take place.

We are primarily interested in anything connected with the study of English, but can consider General Linguistics as well. Our focus is on Discourse Analysis, Narratology, Varieties of English (geographical, occupational, etc.), Language and Culture Studies, English Vocabulary, Text Analysis, Sociolinguistics, English in the Mass Media, English in Politics.

We will be happy to consider your articles, dissertation theses, book reviews and news for publication. Little editing will leave your ideas intact and you could have your theories published even if everyone else in the Big Scientific World out there tends to disagree.
